But what does the word “GALETTE’ mean?

The word "Galette" is used in the French culinary vocabulary as a broad term that describes a variety of foods made in the shape of a flat thin disk.

It usually refers to foods that contain flour, like bread, shortbread biscuits or even savoury crêpes.

In the French region of Bretagne (Brittany), well renowned for being the birthplace of Crêpes, “Galettes” are indeed known to being made out of buckwheat flour and to only containing savoury fillings.
